1812 Pattern Officers Helmet of the East Devon Volunteer Cavalry 1812 Pattern Officers Helmet of the East Devon Volunteer Cavalry. A fine example of a very rare helmet, These helmets were used by the Yeomanry once the regular Cavalry regiments dress regulations changed, the helmet differs in as much as the regular Cavalry regiments original insignia has been covered over by the plate of the East Devon Volunteer Cavalry's helmet plate, this was a common occurrence during this period. Helmet consists of a leather skul and peak trimmed with brass, three rows of scales to the sides and rear, one possibly two have been repaired, The bear skin comb over a wicker frame has been replaced, no liner present, original leather lined chin scales and lion headed bosses in fine condition. Considering its age the helmet is in super condition there are a number of very minor splits in the brass furniture, None of which detract from the helmets value. Overall a very rare helmet in excellent condition 8/10 We are asking £12'000 or nearest offer for this helmet, the postage would be fixed based on the delivery instructions.

Condition: Excellent, The drum has been laquered to preserve it, original skins intact service wear, very minor chips to paint. only.

1st Cambridgeshire Rifle Voll Corps 1st Cambridgeshire Rifle Voll Corps Pre 1901 Officers Home Pattern Service Helmet. A very good and rare example of this blue cloth helmet, The helmet is compete with silvered metal cross piece, spike and rose bosses supporting a velvet backed chin chain. To the front a White Metal eight pointed star the topmost star displaced by a Victorian Crown, to the centre the regimental device of a Castle and three flags, on a field of black velvet within a Garter that has a the regimental title within. To the interior a tan leather sweatband, topped with a quilted white silk helmet liner, A gold blocked Taylors stamp of ''H Kempton Army & Volunteer Contractors''. A rare maker. Condition This Helmet is in very good condition except two or three moth holes the largest of these is beneath the chin chain and is not seen when chin chain is worn as in photos the other two are tiny, also minor moth tracking again not noticable, about one and a half inches of the chin strap has loose stitching, two moth holes in sweat band, minor silver tarnish on the fittings otherwise a very good example.

A rare example of this blue cloth helmet plate, a white metal eight pointed star the topmost star displaced by a Crown, to the centre the regimental device of Saint George and the Dragon with motto above ''Quo Fata Vocant'' on a field of black velvet within a Garter. Below the Garter two silver scrolls inscribed ''The Northumberland Fusiliers'' the second scroll ''1st Volunteer Battalion''. Condition:- Excellent however this plate needs cleaning as it has tarnished over the years, a great sleeper.

An extremely rare Full dress pattern Officers Lance Cap worn by Stafford Vere Hotchkin MC, Formally 21st Lancer's, Royal Horse Artillery, Royal Field Artillery, Leicestershire Yeomanry and also a Conservative Member Of Parliament and an internationally known Golf Course designer in the 1920's. Comprising: Full Dress Lance Cap The skull of black patent leather with the upper portion of French Grey melton cloth, with gold gimp cord across the top and down the angles. To the left side is a gold bullion rosette with embroidered Regimental device of a VR Cypher onto a velvet ground. The gilt lance cap plate is mounted with silvered Victorian Crown Royal Arms, Battle Honour Khartoum, Regimental device and title scroll. Patent leather peak with gold bullion lines. Two gilt metal lion head bossís support the gilt chin chain with black velvet backing. Leather sweatband to the interior, this now with age wear. Gilt remains fresh, small moth holes to the crown, White Plume present with gilt metal plume holder within its own storage tin. The Chapska is also contained in its original metal storage tin, this with brass engraved name plate and Regimental Title. Condition Overall inclusive of minor moth damage and lack of interior lining Excellent 8/10 Extra Images available This Helmet has never been in the trade or with a collector and has remained with the original family, until sold earlier this year.

The lance cap is in very good external condition, gilt remains bright minor fading in places. Please note that the silk lining is now absent in parts with part of the makers details still visable of Hawkes and Co. Condition: A Helmet in untouched condition with a few very minor issues, Helmet plate stitches that hold the plate to the helmet have seperated in three places (see Image) and needs three new stitches too re-attach, one small area of congealed leather (see image). minor dulling to bullion, Plume is dusty and could use a clean. This helmet is in a totaly unmessed with condition and deserves a 9/10

25th Indian Cavalry (Frontier Force) Officer's pouch circa 1903-22. 25th Indian Cavalry (Frontier Force) Officer's pouch circa 1903-22. A fine and scarce example. Scarlet melton face, edged with three quarter inch gold lace, bearing gold bullion laurel wreath with five padded blue velvet scrolls inscribed with the Regiment's battle honours "DelhiÔ, Lucknow, Charasia, Kabul 1879, Afghanistan 1878-80". Within the wreath, a tri-part scroll inscribed "Frontier Force Cavalry" with "25" above surmounted by a crown. Red Morocco covered box with ornate gilt ends and plain belt loops (one with old repair). The reverse of pouch now with moth damage, this not affecting its appearance. Minor service wear. Raised in 1849 as 5th Punjab Cavalry and became 25th Cavalry (Frontier Force) in 1903; amalgamated with the 22nd Cavalry in 1922 as 12th Cavalry (Frontier Force).

A magnificent and scarce example of the 1871 pattern helmet worn by an officer of the Inniskilling Dragoon Guards, Silver skull decorated with laurel leaves, to the front a helmet plate consisting of a Fire Gilt hobnail star,overlaid with a fire gilt title strap inscribed with ''INNISKILLING DRAGOONS'' to the centre a silver castle and below this numerals V l mounted onto a matt gilt disc. Complete with white horse hair plume and gilt rose, and also a black velvet backed gilt chin chain. Condition 10/10

To the front a gilt metal eight pointed star the topmost star displaced by a Crown, to the centre the regimental device of a strung silver horn, on a field of velvet within a Garter. Below the Garter a silver scroll inscribed ''THE DURHAM LT INFY'' To the interior a very fine tan leather sweatband, topped with crimson silk and draw string, Tailors label of ''Herbert & Co London''. The Coatee of dark blue wool,with scarlet collar, cuffs, and white turn-backs to the skirts; embellished on the front with continuous loops of silver gimp and three rows of half-domed silver plated buttons, 26 to the centre and 29 on either side,embossed with a Crown between the initials R,M, and C, the frontclosingwith hooksand eyes; the cuffs and collar trimmed with silver gimp and embellished with designs in silver Russia braid, the skirts also with trefoils in silver braid that terminate in Austrian knots; coat tail insignia of Order of the Thistle in silver wire and sequins and coloured silks; lined in white silk throughout (Conservation Netted). Scots Guards British Pattern 1877 Foreign Service Helmet Scots Guards British Pattern 1877 Foreign Service Helmet, Previously owned and worn by Major-General Gerald James Cuthbert CB, CMG (12 September 1861 Ė 1 February 1931) He was a British Army officer who commanded The First Battalion Scots Guards in the Boer War, and commanded a division in the First World War. Cuthbert joined the Scots Guards in 1882 and served in Egypt and the Sudan during the late 19th century. During the Boer War he served with his regiment, rising to command a battalion and after the war he was given command of a brigade in the Territorial Force and then in the British Expeditionary Force of 1914. He served on the Western Front from 1914 to 1917, rising to command 39th Division, then returned to home service before retiring in 1919. Condition: Excellent Photos speak for themselves The helmet comes complete with its tin and a number of other items of uniform and equipment all will be sold with the helmet, should the purchaser not want these other items I will be willing to purchase them back, however I will not split this amazing group. An ultra rare Yeomanry Cavalry Helmet of a pattern worn for a limited period a matter of months before the regiment decided upon the Busby as its chosen headress. Please see Headdresses of The British Army ''Yeomanry'', W.Y.Carmen, 1970. plate 71, description page 68. The helmet has a unique badge to the front that was only ever used on this trial helmet (See images). The chin chain has been repaired in as much as the leather backing has been renewed, otherwise all of the helmet is in original condition,however the liner is missing. A superb mint condition example of an early pattern Staffordshire Yeomanry Officers Pouch, and Pouch Cover, The bullion embroidery is of the highest quality with rich crushed dark blue velvet covered with silver bullion embroidery of the highest quality. My Pictures do not do this pouch justice, it is as near mint as possible, with full colour no fading or wear except for the pouch cover, which is of unusual manufacture ie seems to be of silk that has had some form of waterproof covering added, again of the highest quality. Condition: 9+/10

A rare jacket and waistcoat the only one of this pattern I have ever owned after having collected to this regiment for over thirty years. Jacket of dark blue/black cloth with scarlet coloured facings to the collar and cuffs all are trimmed with either padded or flat regimental silver lace. To the front a row of silver studs that hide the hook fastners, Silver bullion epaulettes with gold bullion and red velvet crown and a gold bullion and coloured thread bath star denoting the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Trimmed to the rear of the jacket are lines of scarlet cloth ending in silver padded lace olivetts. Interior of red quilted silk now partialy shot to the waist area. The waistcoat to the front, scarlet melton cloth trimmed with regimental lace to each side of the silver studs that run down the front centre there are six areas of Austrian lace that have a silver Staffordshire Knot within each area and also to the bottom and top of each of the slash pockets. The interior with white soft linen liner. Condition: Minor moth damage and one stud missing from lower part of the waistcoat.The photos do not do this rare uniform justice. 8/10

The fully embroidered gold crown is of the five-hooped variety below this a silver cypher of the ''W'' between reversed ''R''s, Manufactured by Moore & Moore Old Bond Street,Owners initial 'E' is also present. Condition 8 / 10. Velvet is rubbed in places due to brushing over the years, Bullion lace on the hangers is fresh however lace requires a clean on the sabretache itself ( Dusty will clean up wonderfully), attachment for flap on the reverse needs stitching overall one of the finest early sabretaches in excellent condition.

The North Somerset Yeomanry 1847 Albert Pattern Officers Helmet A very good example of a rare 1847 Albert Pattern Officers Helmet, Silvered skull decorated with gilt metal floral design of oak and laurel leaves; to the front a helmet plate consisting of a gilt oval plate to the centre VR and title strap with The North Somerset Yeomanry upon it all mounted upon a silver cut hobnail star. Gilt tulip pattern spike and base supports a white over red regimental pattern horsehair plume, with gilt rose boss to the top. To each side are rose head bosses which support a gilt metal chin chain. Original lining present,Front and rear peak is lined with green leather and the sweat band of red morrocco. Exterior in excellent condition 9/10. Interior showing signs of age with minor damage 7/10 Overall a very fine good and rare helmet that would make a fine addition to any collection.
